The conundrum is apperent, not only in Paul's writings, but also in the portrayal of Jesus' life. Both are highly authoritative figures, with widely recognized legitimacy. They act with authority and have followers or loyal supporters, on whom they make demmands. However, they both adopt the language of serving, not only of themselves, but they also recommend it of others. Andrew D. Clarke
